Virus Hunting in Windows with Linux !!
A follow on to the previous post on the same topic.
This is a better route to hunt down viruses, but requires some additional preparation.
For this you will need a Live PCLinux distro CD, that has been reauthored to include WINE. Wine is an emulator that allows Windows programs to be run.
I guess, you can get the hint where this is headed.
Yes, boot up with Linux, and simply run an antivirus on the windows partition!
Cureit is a free antivirus utility that can be run without installation and is quite apt for this job.
If you do not know how to reauthor a PCLinux distro, drop a line here and I shall get you one. You will need to download Cureit yourself, though.
